Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre has said he will take up with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy the long-pending promotion of 37 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the 1991, 1995 and 1996 batches to the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (Additional SP).
The promotion process has been held up by court cases filed by some officers, according to reports on the DGP’s recent interaction with the affected officers.
37 DSPs Await Promotion as Additional SPs
The officers from the 1991, 1995 and 1996 batches are awaiting promotion to Additional SP positions.

The pending issue involves:
- 37 DSP-rank officers
- Batches of 1991, 1995 and 1996
- Promotion to Additional SP rank
- Court cases that have delayed the process
Anand has urged the officers to cooperate in resolving the issue and indicated that he would personally pursue the matter with the Chief Minister.
Officers Indicate Willingness to Withdraw Cases
The DGP said officers from the Warangal zone had indicated that they would withdraw their cases following discussions with him.
Officers from the Hyderabad zone have also expressed a positive response towards withdrawing their cases, according to the reports.
Anand had given the officers time to decide on withdrawing the cases, while assuring them that he would take up the promotion issue with the state government.
DGP Seeks Resolution of Long-Pending Promotion Issue
The DGP said the cooperation of the concerned officers could help clear the pending promotion process. He is expected to place the matter before Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for consideration.
The development comes against the backdrop of an ongoing seniority and vacancy-related issue in the Telangana Police. In July, Anand had constituted a six-member committee to examine complaints concerning seniority, inspector vacancies and related issues raised by 1991-batch officers.
