Jalaun: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday gifted 324 development projects worth ₹1,273.96 crore to Jalaun district during a public meeting held at Indira Stadium in Orai.
The projects include the inauguration of 216 completed projects and the foundation stone laying of 108 new projects. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening infrastructure in the district, including roads, drinking water facilities, education, healthcare and other basic services.
Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister said that Jalaun has moved beyond its earlier identity as a region affected by crime and backwardness and is now emerging as a centre of development.
Jalaun Has Transformed From Dacoit Region to Development Hub: CM Yogi
CM Yogi Adityanath said that Jalaun is the sacred land of Maharishi Ved Vyas and has witnessed a major transformation under the double-engine government.
He recalled that Bundelkhand was earlier known for:
- Water scarcity and drought conditions.
- Lack of development.
- Fear of criminal activities.
The Chief Minister said that the policies of the Central and state governments have changed the image of Jalaun and the entire Bundelkhand region by bringing new opportunities for growth and investment.
324 Projects to Strengthen Infrastructure in Jalaun
The development package of ₹1,273.96 crore includes projects related to multiple sectors.
Major focus areas include:
- Road infrastructure improvement.
- Drinking water supply.
- Education facilities.
- Healthcare services.
- Other public infrastructure projects.
CM Yogi said these projects will improve the quality of life for residents and accelerate economic development in the district.
Kalpi Handmade Paper Industry Gains Global Recognition
Highlighting local achievements, CM Yogi praised the traditional handmade paper industry of Kalpi, saying that it has gained recognition in international markets, including Australia and Japan.
He also appreciated the revival work of the Noon River, saying that the restoration efforts have received appreciation at the global level.
The Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to provide electricity connections to around 1 lakh households in the region, which will help create better opportunities and reduce migration among youth.
Strict Action Against Mafia and Exam Irregularities
CM Yogi Adityanath reiterated the government’s strict approach against criminals, mafias and those involved in examination-related irregularities.
He said that those involved in wrongdoing are facing strict action, including the seizure of illegal properties.
The Chief Minister added that law and order has improved under the BJP government and women, especially girl students, are now able to pursue education in a safer environment.
CM Yogi Attacks Opposition Over Law and Order Issues
During his address, CM Yogi targeted the Samajwadi Party and Congress, accusing previous governments of encouraging corruption, illegal mining and family-based politics.
He alleged that during earlier regimes, mining mafias were active and recruitment processes were affected by irregularities.
The Chief Minister said the present government has focused on transparent governance, strict law enforcement and development-oriented policies.
Local MLAs Highlight Development Achievements and Demands
Kalpi MLA Vinod Chaturvedi praised the development work carried out by the state government and said that the progress achieved in recent years was significant.
He requested further promotion of the Kalpi handmade paper industry and suggested developing the area as a tourism destination.
Jalaun Sadar MLA Gauri Shankar Verma highlighted the government’s action against illegal encroachments and demanded the establishment of an engineering college in the district.
CM Yogi Receives Grand Welcome at Orai
Before addressing the public meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at the police line helipad in Orai, where he was welcomed by elected representatives and administrative officials. He later reached Indira Stadium, where a large gathering of people welcomed him. Security arrangements were strengthened across the venue, with police personnel deployed at various locations.
Several dignitaries, including Minister in-charge of Jalaun Sanjay Gangwar, local MPs, MLAs, BJP leaders and senior administrative officials, were present during the programme.
