As many as 61 IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh are set to receive promotions in the new year, ranging from SP to Director General (DG) rank. The promotions will be made against existing vacancies and in phases, as senior officers retire.

Six district police chiefs will be promoted from SP to DIG, bringing 2012-batch officers into the DIG rank. At the same time, six DIGs from the 2008 batch will be elevated to Inspector General (IG), while three 2001-batch IGs will move up to Additional Director General (ADG).

DG-Level Promotions and Senior Appointments

Six ADG-rank officers will be promoted to DG in the coming months. Although officers from the 1996 batch became eligible on January 1, 2026, promotions will take place as DG-level vacancies arise.
