UP Govt Transfers 35 IPS Officers in Major Reshuffle; Shravan Singh Gets Noida, Sonam Kumar Moves to Prayagraj

Uttar Pradesh has ordered a major police reshuffle involving officers from the 2014 to 2022 batches, along with several SPS officers, bringing changes across Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow and other districts.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the transfer and posting of 35 IPS officers in a major police reshuffle announced on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The changes involve officers from the 2014 to 2022 batches and affect several important police commissionerates, districts and specialised police units across the state.

The reshuffle includes significant changes in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi and Lucknow. Several officers have also been shifted to specialised assignments in cybercrime, intelligence, CID, police headquarters, PAC and other units.

Alongside the IPS transfers, a number of State Police Service (SPS) officers have also been reassigned to different commissionerates, headquarters and PAC units.

Shravan Kumar Singh Moves to Gautam Buddh Nagar

Among the prominent changes, 2014-batch IPS officer Shravan Kumar Singh has been transferred from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Kanpur Nagar, to DCP, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Ravi Shankar Nim, who was serving as DCP, Gautam Buddh Nagar, has been shifted to Gorakhpur as Commandant of the 2nd Battalion of the Special Security Force.

Shreyas Ali Abbas has also moved to Gautam Buddh Nagar after being transferred from DCP, Agra, to DCP, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The changes bring new officers into the Gautam Buddh Nagar commissionerate while moving some existing officers to other field and specialised assignments.

Major Changes in Agra and Prayagraj

Agra and Prayagraj are among the other major commissionerates affected by the reshuffle.

2016 batch IPS officer Sonam Kumar has been transferred from DCP, Agra, to DCP, Prayagraj, while Ravindra Kumar moves from DCP, Kanpur Nagar, to DCP, Agra.

2018 batch IPS officer Saad Miya Khan has been transferred from DCP, Gautam Buddh Nagar, to DCP, Agra. Syed Ali Abbas has moved in the other direction, from DCP, Agra, to DCP, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

2016 batch IPS officer Neeraj Kumar Pandey has been shifted from DCP, Prayagraj, to Superintendent of Police at Police Headquarters, Prayagraj.

2020 batch IPS officer Shruti Srivastava has moved from Additional DCP, Varanasi, to Additional DCP, Prayagraj.

The changes give both Agra and Prayagraj new combinations of officers at the DCP and Additional DCP levels.

Key Postings in Lucknow

The reshuffle also brings several changes to specialised police assignments in Lucknow.

2015 batch IPS officer Pramod Kumar has been transferred from DCP, Varanasi, and posted as Superintendent of Police at Cyber Headquarters, Lucknow.

2016 batch IPS officer Atul Sharma-II has been posted as Superintendent of Police at Intelligence Headquarters, Lucknow, after serving as DCP, Agra.

2017 batch IPS officer Mamta Rani Chaudhary has moved from the Lucknow Commissionerate to become Superintendent of Police in the CID at Lucknow.

Mohd. Irfan Ansari, also an IPS officer of 2017 batch, has been transferred from Police Headquarters, Prayagraj, to the CID Headquarters in Lucknow.

2014 batch IPS officer Charu Nigam, meanwhile, has moved out of UP-112, Lucknow, and has been posted as Commandant of the 47th Battalion PAC in Ghaziabad.

Changes in Jaunpur, Unnao, Chandauli and Varanasi

The reshuffle also brings changes to several district-level assignments.

2021 batch IPS officer Ayush Srivastava has been transferred from SP City, Jaunpur, to SP City, Unnao.

2021 batch IPS officer Ananth Chandrasekhar has moved from Additional SP, Chandauli, to SP City, Jaunpur.

2020 batch IPS officer Vikram Dahiya has been shifted from Additional SP, Pilibhit, to Additional SP, Chandauli.

2021 batch IPS officer Rajesh Gunawat has been posted as Additional DCP, Varanasi, after being promoted from his earlier assignment as Assistant SP, Firozabad.

2022-Batch IPS Officers Get New Assignments

The latest reshuffle also covers several 2022-batch IPS officers.

Devesh Chaturvedi has been transferred from Ayodhya to Ambedkar Nagar as Additional SP.

Vivek Tiwari has moved from Kheri to Barabanki, while Sumit Sudhakar Ramteke has been transferred from Kanpur Nagar to Sambhal.

Ariba Noman has been posted as Additional DCP, Kanpur Nagar. Manoj Kumar Yadav has also been posted as Additional DCP, Agra, while Rijul has been transferred to Ghaziabad.

Gautam Rai has been shifted within Bijnor and assigned the rural charge.

Mavis Talk has been transferred from Banda to Sonbhadra.

Other Important IPS Transfers

The reshuffle covers officers across different levels and assignments, including commissionerates, district police, specialised units and headquarters.

The movement of officers includes transfers from operational field positions to specialised wings such as cyber, intelligence and CID, while others have been moved between major urban commissionerates and district assignments.

The changes are part of a wider administrative realignment of the state police force.

Several SPS Officers Also Reassigned

Alongside the IPS reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has also reassigned several State Police Service officers.

The latest changes include:

  • Jitendra Kumar Srivastava — Lucknow Commissionerate
  • Kapil Dev Singh — Traffic Headquarters, Lucknow
  • Gyanendra Nath Prasad — Agra
  • Balwant Kumar Chaudhary — Ghaziabad
  • Abhay Nath Tripathi — Kanpur Nagar
  • Harendra Kumar — Agra
  • Rajesh Kumar Pandey — Varanasi
  • Harendra Pratap Yadav — UP-112, Lucknow
  • Kuldeep Singh — 43rd Battalion PAC, Etah
  • Vineet Bhatnagar — Varanasi

These SPS postings further expand the scope of the latest police administrative changes across Uttar Pradesh.

Officers Directed to Join New Posts

The officers covered by the reshuffle have been directed to take charge of their new assignments at the earliest.

The September 19 orders therefore bring changes across several major commissionerates, district police units, specialised wings and armed police formations.

With 35 IPS officers from the 2014 to 2022 batches being moved, the latest reshuffle represents a wide-ranging reorganisation of police responsibilities across Uttar Pradesh, with particularly notable changes in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi and Kanpur Nagar.
