Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched development projects worth ₹413 crore under the ‘Swachh-Sundar-Samarth Lucknow’ initiative, marking a major push to transform the state capital into a cleaner, smarter, and more modern city. The projects were inaugurated and laid foundation for on 26 May 2026 at a grand event held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
The event also marked three years of Mayor Sushma Kharkwal’s tenure in Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
‘Swachh-Sundar-Samarth Lucknow’ Mission Launched
Under the new urban development initiative, the state government has launched 342 development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, sanitation, and civic amenities in Lucknow.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that areas once used for dumping garbage have now been transformed into a “Rashtra Prerna Sthal” (National Inspiration Site), symbolizing the city’s transformation.
He added that coordinated efforts by citizens and the administration have played a key role in making Lucknow cleaner and more organized.

₹413 Crore Investment in 342 Development Projects
The large-scale development plan includes projects focused on urban modernization and public welfare. Key highlights include:
- Road and drain construction and repair
- Purchase of modern road sweeping machines
- Renovation of damaged tubewells
- Installation of street lights
- Construction of vending zones for street vendors
- Development of parks and themed green spaces
- Beautification under flyovers with parking and sports facilities
- Construction of community halls and celebration parks
- Library development near Engineering College in Jankipuram
- Waste disposal plant for garden and tree waste
Officials said these projects aim to significantly improve urban infrastructure and quality of life in the city.
Focus on Cleanliness, Smart Infrastructure, and Public Services
The initiative places strong emphasis on cleanliness and smart urban development. CM Yogi highlighted that Lucknow is now widely recognized as a clean and beautiful city due to sustained planning and execution.
The government also aims to strengthen civic services such as drainage systems, road maintenance, lighting, and waste management through modern technology and better urban planning.

Push for Fast Governance and Public Welfare
Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma emphasized the concept of “One Day Governance,” under which citizens will receive services such as certificates and documentation within hours, without unnecessary delays.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna praised the mayor’s leadership and said Uttar Pradesh is focusing heavily on urban development, with 17 smart cities being developed across the state.
Welfare Schemes and Housing for the Poor
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated that the government’s priority is ensuring that welfare schemes reach all sections of society without discrimination.
He stated that:
- 17 lakh families have been provided housing in Uttar Pradesh
- 65 lakh rural families have also benefited from housing schemes
- Development policies are being implemented without consideration of caste or religion
He also criticized previous governments, claiming that large-scale housing benefits were not provided before 2017.
Cultural and National Symbolism Highlighted
During the event, the Chief Minister unveiled a statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, describing it as a symbol of national unity. He reiterated the importance of “One Nation, One Constitution” in his address.
A special booklet documenting the city’s transformation under the cleanliness campaign was also released.
Lucknow’s Urban Transformation Vision
CM Yogi said Lucknow’s transformation reflects years of planned efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve civic life. The upgraded infrastructure now allows the city to host large public events in a cleaner and more organized environment.
The initiative is part of a broader vision to make Uttar Pradesh’s urban local bodies smart, self-reliant, and development-oriented.
