Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath has announced a major relief for farmers by removing the mandatory farmer registry requirement for wheat procurement. Now, farmers in Uttar Pradesh can sell their wheat at government procurement centres without compulsory registration.
The decision aims to simplify the procurement process and address difficulties faced by farmers across the state.
Big Relief for Farmers in Wheat Procurement Process
Under the new directive, farmers will be allowed to sell wheat at procurement centres in the same way as in previous years, without undergoing the farmer registry process.
The Chief Minister has instructed all District Magistrates to implement the order immediately to ensure smooth wheat procurement operations across the state.
Focus on Reducing Farmer Hardships
The government took the decision after reports that many farmers were facing delays and difficulties due to technical issues and incomplete registration.
The removal of this requirement is expected to:
- Speed up wheat procurement
- Reduce procedural delays
- Improve access for small and marginal farmers
Strict Instructions to Officials for Smooth Implementation
CM Yogi has directed officials to ensure that no farmer faces inconvenience at procurement centres. He warned that strict action will be taken against officials found responsible for delays or denial of procurement due to registration issues.
He also emphasized proper arrangements at procurement centres, including shade, drinking water, and seating facilities for farmers.
Wheat Procurement Target Increased to 50 Lakh Metric Tonnes
According to officials, the state initially set a target of 30 lakh metric tonnes, which has now been increased to 50 lakh metric tonnes on the Chief Minister’s instructions.
Key highlights include:
- MSP fixed at ₹2,585 per quintal
- Additional ₹20 per quintal for cleaning and handling
- Procurement period from March 30 to June 15
- Around 6,500 procurement centres across the state
Farmers to Receive Payment Within 48 Hours
The government has also directed that payments to farmers be made within 48 hours through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The entire procurement system has been digitized to eliminate middlemen and ensure transparency.
Farmers Welcome Government Decision
The decision has brought relief to lakhs of farmers across Uttar Pradesh. Many were previously struggling with delays due to registration-related issues and long queues at procurement centres.
With the new policy, farmers are expected to sell their produce more easily and receive timely payments at MSP rates.
