Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the development of an ₹800-crore jewellery park in Meerut, aiming to transform the city’s traditional sarafa (bullion) trade into a modern, globally competitive jewellery hub.

The project is expected to strengthen industrial infrastructure, attract investment, and generate large-scale employment in the region.

Jewellery Park to Be Developed at Vedvyaspuri by MDA

The project will be developed by the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) at Vedvyaspuri over an area of nearly 36,000 square metres.

MDA officials recently presented the project model before traders and industry representatives, highlighting its integrated design and commercial potential.

Unique Crown-Inspired Design with Cultural Theme

A major highlight of the proposed jewellery park is its distinctive architectural design.

  • The main structure will be shaped like a crown
  • The entrance gate will resemble a traditional earring

Officials said the design reflects Meerut’s historic identity as a major jewellery trading centre.

Integrated Hub for Entire Jewellery Value Chain

The jewellery park will function as a single integrated commercial hub, bringing together all segments of the jewellery ecosystem under one roof.

Facilities planned include:

  • Retail showrooms
  • Wholesale trading centres
  • Artisan and craftsmanship workshops
  • Jewellery manufacturing units
  • Exhibition spaces
  • Banking and financial services
  • Common service centres

The project will also include separate entry points for different business categories, ensuring smooth operations.

Advanced Infrastructure and Buyer-Seller Facilities

The proposed park will feature modern infrastructure such as:

  • Advanced security systems
  • Dedicated logistics support
  • Accommodation facilities for buyers and sellers
  • Organized trading and exhibition zones

Officials said these features will enhance ease of doing business and improve operational efficiency for traders.

Boost to Exports, Investment, and Employment

The jewellery park is part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader strategy to promote export-oriented industrial development.

Authorities believe the project will:

  • Streamline the entire jewellery value chain
  • Increase production capacity
  • Attract domestic and foreign investment
  • Create large-scale employment opportunities
  • Boost jewellery exports from Meerut

Industry representatives have welcomed the initiative, stating it could position Meerut as a major national and international jewellery manufacturing and trading hub.

The ₹800-crore jewellery park in Meerut marks a significant step in transforming the region’s traditional jewellery sector into a modern, export-driven industry. With integrated infrastructure and global business facilities, the project is expected to redefine Meerut’s identity as a leading jewellery trade centre in India.
