Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the development of an ₹800-crore jewellery park in Meerut, aiming to transform the city’s traditional sarafa (bullion) trade into a modern, globally competitive jewellery hub.
The project is expected to strengthen industrial infrastructure, attract investment, and generate large-scale employment in the region.

Facilities planned include:

- Wholesale trading centres
- Artisan and craftsmanship workshops
- Jewellery manufacturing units
- Exhibition spaces
- Banking and financial services
- Common service centres
The project will also include separate entry points for different business categories, ensuring smooth operations.

- Advanced security systems
- Dedicated logistics support
- Accommodation facilities for buyers and sellers
- Organized trading and exhibition zones
Officials said these features will enhance ease of doing business and improve operational efficiency for traders.

Authorities believe the project will:
- Streamline the entire jewellery value chain
- Increase production capacity
- Attract domestic and foreign investment
- Create large-scale employment opportunities
- Boost jewellery exports from Meerut
Industry representatives have welcomed the initiative, stating it could position Meerut as a major national and international jewellery manufacturing and trading hub.
