Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is targeting Rs 5 lakh crore in annual exports by 2030, up from around Rs 2 lakh crore currently, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said while addressing the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida.
Goyal said higher exports, investments and wider access to international markets will support Uttar Pradesh’s objective of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.
FTAs to Open More Global Markets
The Union Minister said India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) will provide Uttar Pradesh entrepreneurs with greater opportunities to enter international markets.
He said wider market access could help the state’s businesses expand their global presence and create new opportunities for exporters across different sectors.
Goyal identified the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development around five key areas — increasing exports, attracting international investment, strengthening tourism and giving global recognition to products and brands originating from the state.

Infrastructure and High-Tech Sectors Drive Growth
Goyal said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred investment destination, supported by favourable industrial policies and proactive industrial schemes.
Major corporations are entering the state across sectors, which he said would contribute to the creation of new employment opportunities.
He also highlighted the state’s expanding infrastructure, including expressways, modern airports and industrial parks, as part of the foundation for greater trade and investment.
According to Goyal, Uttar Pradesh is also expanding its capabilities in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology sectors. He cited the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s growing technology ecosystem.
UP International Trade Show Connects Businesses Globally
Goyal said international events such as the UP International Trade Show provide direct access to global markets and allow Uttar Pradesh’s diverse products, cuisines and services to reach international buyers.
The 2026 edition has attracted significant international participation, including six partner countries, hundreds of delegates and exhibitors, and multiple buyer-seller meetings.
The Minister said the combination of modern technology, international enterprises, traditional craftsmanship and the evolving technical skills of Uttar Pradesh’s youth is contributing to the state’s development.
Focus on Entrepreneurs, Tourism and Global Brands
Goyal said expanding global market access through FTAs, investment and tourism can create more opportunities for Uttar Pradesh’s entrepreneurs.
He also stressed the importance of building international recognition for products and brands from the state, particularly as businesses look to expand beyond domestic markets.
The approach, he said, would help Uttar Pradesh strengthen its position in global trade while moving towards its broader economic targets.
Centre-State Coordination Key to Export Growth
Goyal called for active participation from the trade and industrial community and emphasised coordination between the Central and Uttar Pradesh governments, citizens and the state’s youth.
He said cooperation among these stakeholders would be important for sustaining Uttar Pradesh’s export growth and supporting its wider economic ambitions.
With the state aiming to increase annual exports from around Rs 2 lakh crore to Rs 5 lakh crore by 2030, the focus is increasingly shifting towards global market access, technology, investment, tourism and stronger international visibility for Uttar Pradesh’s products and services.
