Almora (Uttarakhand): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Danya region of Almora district, where he inaugurated development projects worth crores of rupees and announced several new initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, education, connectivity, tourism, and cultural preservation. The announcements were made during a large public gathering held at Ramleela Ground, which saw participation from local residents, public representatives, and senior officials.
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is advancing rapidly on the path of development, and Uttarakhand is also progressing steadily toward prosperity and inclusive growth.
₹4.96 Crore Modern Building Inaugurated at Government Degree College Danya
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of a newly constructed modern academic building at Government Degree College Danya, built at a cost of ₹4.96 crore (approximately ₹495.88 lakh).
The Chief Minister stated that the new facility will significantly enhance academic infrastructure and provide students with improved learning conditions. The upgraded campus is expected to become a milestone in strengthening higher education in the region.
Major Infrastructure and Development Announcements for Almora
CM Dhami also announced a series of new development projects aimed at improving civic infrastructure and public facilities across the region. These include:
Memorial Gate in Honour of Martyr Bireeshwar Goswami
A grand entrance gate will be constructed in Almora in memory of martyr Bireeshwar Goswami, ensuring a lasting tribute to his sacrifice.
Sports and Youth Development Projects
- Construction of Chamtole sports ground to provide better sports facilities for youth
- Development of a mini stadium at Government Degree College Garudabaz
These initiatives are expected to encourage youth participation in sports and help nurture local talent.
Expansion of Educational Infrastructure
- Construction of four additional classrooms at GIC Garudabaz
- Upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School Chagethi
These upgrades aim to improve the quality of education and provide better academic environments for students.
Connectivity and Road Infrastructure Boost
A new motor road will be constructed from Kachauri (Kheti Jateshwar Motor Road) up to Kaluuta polling booth, improving connectivity for rural areas and making transportation easier for residents.

- Radha Krishna Temple site

The Chief Minister highlighted the increasing popularity of pilgrimage circuits like Kedarkhand and Manaskhand, stating that rising tourist footfall is directly benefiting the local economy and generating employment opportunities. He also emphasized the promotion of winter tourism, along with initiatives in Ayurveda and yoga-based wellness tourism, aiming to position Uttarakhand as a global hub for health and spiritual tourism.
‘One District, One Festival’ Initiative Promotes Local Culture
Under the ‘One District, One Festival’ initiative, the state government is actively promoting local fairs and cultural events to give new recognition to Uttarakhand’s rich traditions.
The initiative is designed to:
- Promote regional art and culture
- Provide platforms for local artists
- Strengthen cultural identity at the grassroots level

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta also attended the event. He praised the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments, stating that such collaboration is driving holistic development across Uttarakhand.

During the event, MLA Mohan Singh Mahra submitted a list of around 40 development proposals from the region to the Chief Minister.
