Banbasa (Champawat): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a yoga session organized in Banbasa, Champawat, on June 21 to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga. The event was held as part of nationwide celebrations promoting yoga as a global wellness practice.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister described yoga as an essential part of India’s ancient cultural heritage and emphasized Uttarakhand’s traditional identity as a land of spirituality, meditation, and penance.
CM Dhami Announces Expansion of “Yoga Grams” in Uttarakhand
CM Dhami highlighted that the state government is actively working to establish “Yoga Grams” across Uttarakhand to promote yoga at the grassroots level and integrate it into daily life.
He said the government has already implemented a state yoga policy and introduced financial assistance to support yoga and wellness centres. According to him, these initiatives aim to make yoga accessible to every household in the state.

In his message, CM Dhami emphasized that yoga is not just a physical exercise but a holistic way of life that balances the mind, intellect, and soul.
He stated:
Yoga helps create harmony between mental and physical well-being and encourages a positive outlook toward life. Regular practice strengthens physical health, calms the mind, and promotes emotional stability.
He also extended greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on International Yoga Day and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for globalizing the ancient practice.

The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming yoga into a worldwide movement. He said that due to the Prime Minister’s efforts, millions of people across the globe have adopted yoga as part of their daily routine.
He urged citizens to integrate yoga into their lives and contribute to building a healthier, more aware, and self-reliant society.
International Yoga Day Celebrations Across India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the main national celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga in Kolkata. The event was part of nationwide and global observances held on June 21.

The United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014, recognizing India’s ancient practice as a global symbol of health and harmony.
