Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the establishment of the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority, marking a major restructuring of the state’s minority education system. The government has also abolished the Madrasa Board, signaling a shift towards a unified and modern education framework aligned with the vision of “One Nation, One Education”.
The new system came into effect from July 1, 2026, aiming to provide quality, modern, and value-based education to students across all communities.
New Minority Education Authority Established
The Chief Minister announced that the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority has been set up to ensure equal and improved educational opportunities for students from all sections of society.
During a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence (Mukhyaseva Sadan), CM Dhami also:
- Distributed recognition certificates to minority educational institutions
- Presented NCERT textbooks to students of minority schools
He said the initiative would strengthen the foundation of students’ future by promoting quality and modern education.
Madrasa Board Abolished, Unified Education System Introduced
As part of the reform, the state government has abolished the Madrasa Board and introduced a new integrated structure. The move aligns with the broader goal of implementing a more uniform education system in Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami stated that this step is not just an institutional change, but a foundational reform aimed at securing every child’s bright future.
Focus on Equal Opportunity for All Communities
Under the new framework, six notified minority communities will receive equal educational opportunities. The government aims to address gaps in representation and ensure fairness in access to education.
CM Dhami emphasized that the objective is to ensure that no child is left behind in the state’s development journey.
Balancing Tradition with Modern Education
Highlighting the need for modern learning, the Chief Minister said the world is rapidly evolving with advancements in:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning
- Digital Technology
- Skill-based education
He stressed that children must remain connected to their cultural roots while gaining expertise in science, mathematics, computers, and vocational skills.
Alignment with NEP 2020 and Digital Education Push
CM Dhami said the reforms are in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which focuses on:
- Skill development
- Innovation and research
- Entrepreneurship
- Employment-oriented learning
The state government is also promoting:
- Smart classrooms
- Digital education
- Skill development programs
- Startup ecosystem growth
He added that the new authority will play a key role in implementing NEP effectively and ensuring transparency and quality in education.

The Chief Minister said education is not just a means of employment but a powerful tool for social empowerment and nation-building. He urged educational institutions to produce responsible, skilled, and patriotic citizens.
He also highlighted India’s diversity, saying unity in diversity remains the country’s greatest strength, and the government is committed to inclusive development.

CM Dhami expressed confidence that the new authority will bring a positive transformation in thousands of students’ lives and position Uttarakhand as a leading state in inclusive and quality education.
