Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday participated in the Silver Jubilee (25 years) celebrations of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation held at the Chief Minister’s residence. On the occasion, he announced the opening of a new corporation office in the Kumaon region and emphasized strengthening forest-based initiatives in the state.
New Office in Kumaon and Beekeeping Promotion Plan
The Chief Minister announced that a new office of the Forest Development Corporation will be established in Kumaon to improve accessibility and efficiency.
He also directed officials to bring a proposal to the cabinet for installing bee boxes (B-Boxes) in forest areas to promote apiculture, which can enhance livelihoods and support ecological balance.

Launch of “Himkashth” Mobile App
During the event, CM Dhami launched the “Himkashth” mobile application, a digital platform aimed at modernizing forest product management.
The app will enable:
- Online sale of timber from the corporation
- E-auction of forest goods
- Improved transparency and ease of doing business
The initiative is expected to streamline operations and make forest resources more accessible through digital processes.
₹167 Crore Net Profit Marks Major Achievement
Highlighting the corporation’s success, the Chief Minister stated that the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation recorded a net profit of ₹167 crore, reflecting strong governance and efficient resource utilization.
He emphasized that clear policies and transparent intentions have helped the corporation achieve this milestone.
Role of Corporation in Economy and Ecology
CM Dhami noted that the corporation plays a vital role in both economic growth and environmental conservation. Its key functions include:
- Scientific management of forests
- Sustainable extraction of forest produce
- Regulated mining in reserved forest areas
- Promotion of eco-tourism
- Supply of certified timber
He added that the corporation also contributes to reforestation efforts by removing dead and uprooted trees and developing new green cover.
Focus on Balancing Ecology, Economy, and Technology
Referring to the vision of Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said the state government is working toward maintaining a balance between economy, ecology, and technology.
He stressed that Uttarakhand’s rich natural heritage—dense forests, glaciers, rivers, and biodiversity—must be preserved for future generations.
Appeal to Tourists for Environmental Protection
CM Dhami urged tourists and pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand to avoid littering during forest safaris or religious visits. He highlighted that small efforts by individuals can significantly contribute to environmental conservation.
Students Honored and Leaders Present
During the Celebration, meritorious students—children of corporation employees who scored 75% or above in board exams—were honored.

Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal highlighted that the corporation generated ₹627 crore in revenue in the last financial year and continues to focus on innovation and linking forest resources with local livelihoods.

The Silver Jubilee celebration not only marked 25 years of achievements but also reinforced the government’s commitment to sustainable development, transparency, and environmental protection in Uttarakhand.
