Dehradun: The foundation stone for a series of multi-purpose buildings was laid on Thursday at the Lok Bhawan campus in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The initiative was jointly launched by Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
According to an official press release, the project aims to strengthen administrative efficiency by bringing multiple public services and government departments under one integrated campus.
Four Multi-Purpose Buildings Planned with Integrated Facilities
The upcoming development at the Lok Bhawan complex includes four major buildings, each designed for specific public services:
- First Building: Integrated dispensary featuring Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic, and Allopathic treatment units
- Second Building: Information complex along with a cafeteria
- Third Building: Office space for the Public Works Department (PWD)
- Fourth Building: Dedicated facility for the Horticulture Department
Officials stated that all buildings will be developed to support better coordination between departments while improving service delivery to the public.
Traditional Hill Architecture to Preserve Cultural Identity
A key highlight of the project is its architectural design. The buildings will be constructed using traditional hill architecture, reflecting Uttarakhand’s cultural and regional identity.
The initiative also aims to blend modern infrastructure with local design traditions, promoting the use of indigenous materials and supporting local artisans.
Governor Gurmit Singh on Efficiency and Public Service
Governor Gurmit Singh stated that the new facilities will help consolidate essential services in one location, making administration more streamlined and efficient.
He emphasized that the integrated campus will benefit both government employees and citizens by reducing delays, saving time, and improving accessibility to public services. The Governor also highlighted the importance of combining modern technology with cultural heritage in public infrastructure.
