Alwar: Additional SP (Headquarters) IPS Kamble Sharan Gopinath (2021: Rajasthan) was honoured with the prestigious DGP Disc on the occasion of Republic Day in recognition of his outstanding service in combating drug abuse and trafficking. The award was presented by Additional Director General of Police, Jaipur Range, H.G. Raghavendra Suhas.

Recognition for De-Addiction and Anti-Narcotics Drive

IPS Kamble Sharan Gopinath received the honour for his impactful work while serving as ACP in Sanchore, a border area of Jalore district adjoining Gujarat. During his tenure, he spearheaded a comprehensive de-addiction campaign, combining strict law enforcement with community awareness initiatives.

Crackdown on Drug Traffickers and Social Awareness

As part of the campaign, Kamble led special police operations to apprehend drug traffickers, including action against organised narcotics networks. He also worked extensively to discourage the social practice of offering opium and poppy pods at weddings and other gatherings, a long-standing custom in some regions.
