Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will celebrate Diwali with members of the Van Tangiya community at Jungle Tinkonia Number 3 village in Gorakhpur on Sunday, November 8. During the visit, he will also announce development projects worth ₹78 crore for several gram panchayats in the district.
This will be Yogi Adityanath’s tenth consecutive Diwali celebration with the Van Tangiya community as Chief Minister. His association with the community dates back to 2009, when he began visiting its settlements during Diwali while serving as a Member of Parliament.
The Van Tangiya community, which had faced decades of neglect and limited access to basic facilities and recognised rights, has been a focus of his annual Diwali visits.
₹78 Crore Development Projects for Gorakhpur Villages
During the November 8 programme, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹74.12 crore and inaugurate completed works costing ₹3.88 crore.
The projects are intended for several gram panchayats in Gorakhpur district, with most of the works relating to the development of basic infrastructure and public facilities in villages.
The combined value of the projects to be inaugurated and those for which foundation stones will be laid is ₹78 crore.
Annual Diwali Tradition With the Van Tangiya Community
The Chief Minister’s visit to Jungle Tinkonia Number 3, located in the Kusmhi forest area, has become an annual Diwali tradition.
Adityanath began celebrating the festival with the Van Tangiya community in 2009, before becoming Chief Minister. He has continued the practice after assuming office in 2017.
The annual gathering brings the Chief Minister together with residents of the settlement to celebrate Diwali. Preparations for this year’s visit have been underway, with the district administration making arrangements for the programme and villagers preparing to welcome him.
The community’s settlements are spread across the Gorakhpur-Maharajganj region, where 23 villages have been part of development efforts aimed at improving access to public facilities and entitlements.
