Bhubaneswar: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with CIPET Bhubaneswar and the Kandhamal District Administration to strengthen skill development, employment opportunities and livelihood support under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The two partnerships focus on different areas of socio-economic development in Odisha. While the agreement with CIPET will provide industry-oriented skill training to 520 candidates, the initiative with Kandhamal District Administration will support farmers in improving turmeric cultivation through quality planting material, training and technical guidance.
MCL-CIPET Partnership to Train 520 Candidates
Under the partnership with CIPET Bhubaneswar, MCL will support industry-oriented skill development programmes for 520 candidates.
The training will focus on two job-oriented courses:
- Machine Operator – Plastics Processing
- Machine Operator – Injection Moulding
The programme is designed to equip candidates with practical skills relevant to the plastics processing and manufacturing sectors, with an emphasis on improving their employability and employment outcomes.
The initiative will also encourage greater participation of women in skill development programmes.

The support is aimed at helping farmers improve cultivation practices, enhance productivity and strengthen farm income.
