RECPDCL Extends ₹1.25 Crore CSR Support to Kargil to Boost Education, Healthcare and Water Infrastructure

New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has extended CSR support of ₹1.25 crore to the District Administration of Kargil, Ladakh. The initiative is focused on strengthening key public infrastructure in education, healthcare, and drinking water systems, with an expected benefit to nearly 1.95 lakh residents of the district.

The CSR intervention reflects RECPDCL’s continued commitment to supporting community development in remote and strategically important regions of India.

Flagging Off of 40-Seater School Bus in Kargil

A key milestone of the initiative was the flagging off of a 40-seater school bus on 19 June 2026. The ceremony was led by Shri Jitendra Srivastava, CMD of REC Ltd, in the presence of Shri Prince Dhawan, Joint Secretary (Transmission), Government of India.

The event was also attended by the CEO of RECPDCL along with senior officials from the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil.

Improving Access to Education, Healthcare, and Drinking Water

Under the CSR initiative, the financial support of ₹1.25 crore will be utilized to strengthen critical infrastructure in:

  • Education facilities, including improved access for students in far-flung areas
  • Healthcare services, aimed at enhancing basic medical support systems
  • Drinking water infrastructure to improve availability and reliability of safe water

Officials highlighted that these interventions are designed to improve quality of life and reduce accessibility gaps in geographically challenging regions like Kargil.

Impact on Local Communities

The initiative is expected to directly and indirectly benefit around 1.95 lakh residents of Kargil district. Improved infrastructure and transportation facilities are anticipated to:

  • Enhance school attendance and reduce dropout rates
  • Improve access to healthcare services in remote villages
  • Strengthen availability of clean drinking water
  • Support overall socio-economic development in the region
