What could be more fulfilling for civil servants then to get back love from the people they serve? It is something what all bureaucrats want, as their duty is deemed to be in the interest of people. Similarly, it was a tough time for the people of Dhubri district is Assam when they heard about the transfer of their favourite police officer, Mr. Anand Mishra.

The IPS officer who was serving as the SP of Dhubri got transferred as the SP of Nagaon district after a government order was issued by the Assam government.

Soon after hearing about the transfer, people gathered in large number outside the officer’s residence for two days continuously. It was an emotional outpouring of children, youth and even elderly people were finding it tough to say goodbye to the officer.

PEOPLE’S OFFICER

Mr. Anand Sharma got posted as the Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhubri in July 2020. Within no time, he became an inspiration to the youth as his way of policing was way different from others who served before in the district.

By interacting to the people on a daily basis, Mr. Mishra gave a positive direction to the young generation and guided them in the right manner. It is also believed that the officer managed to bring down the crime rate in the district in less than a year of his posting in Dhubri.

He took various steps in curbing the trade of intoxicants, cattle smuggling and even corruption in his own department.

VIRAL VIDEO

It was Saturday when people got to know about Mr Mishra’s transfer order which was issued days after the state got its new Chief Minister. A large number of people rushed to the officer’s residence carrying banners of ‘We Want Anand Mishra’. People were disappointed by the transfer and were clearly in no mood to bid farewell to their favourite officer.

However, during the interaction with them Mr. Anand Mishra said “I really appreciate the love you have shown to me. However, this is how the government works and we are ourselves the part of the system. I hope many of you who admire me become a civil servant one day. We should respect the way government functions, its procedure and the integrity it requires to work in the system.”

Sar utha ke aane, sar utha ke jane wali baat honi chahiye’ (Come and go with your head up), Mr. Anand Mishra said while accepting the love of people as they gathered outside his residence. He further said that he has been successful in living out the above phrase and was overwhelmed by the love he was getting from the people.

His live video, which got shared on the Facebook page of ‘Fans of Dhubri’, got viral and was shared immensely. It has already garnered more than 4.5 lakh likes, 25,000 comments and 12 million views.

Mr Mishra has now been posted in Nagaon and is looking forward to serve the same way he did in Dhubri. He has asked the people of Nagaon to keep their expectations high as he is sure to serve them with utter dedication.
