Rajasthan Topper leads IPS Probationers’ Parade

Minister of state for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai attended and reviewed the `Dikshant’ (passing out) Parade, of the IPS probationers. The Parade was led by batch topper Ranjeetha Sharma of Rajasthan cadre. She also became the first lady officer trainee to receive the IPS Association's Sword of Honor. Mr. Rai wished a successful career to all the probationers and also reminded them about their duties in the service of the Nation. Mr. Nityanand Rai, congratulated the Parade Commander Ms. Ranjeeta Sharma and the Platoon Commanders for their excellent performance.

Finally, the day came for the 2019 batch IPS probationers to mark the end of their training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, by concluding the much-awaited Passing out Parade or Dikshant Parade. A total of 178 candidates, including 144 IPS probationers and 34 foreign officer trainees, bid adieu to the police academy as they look forward to serve the nation with their first individual positing as IPS officers.

The Parade was attended and reviewed by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai. After reviewing the parade led by batch topper Ranjeetha Sharma of Rajasthan cadre, the ceremonial oath was taken by the candidates which was administered by the Director of SVPNPA, Mr. Atul Karwal.

Mr. Karwal in his welcome address presented the course report and the achievements and milestones of the Academy.

During the award ceremony, Mr. Shivendu Bhushan, IPS (P) of 72RR AGMUT cadre, won The Mehta Cup for Studies.

Mr. Kusharam Karki, officer trainee of Nepal Police, won The Jaipur Cup for PT for Gentlemen officers.

MsSherabPem, officer trainee of Royal Bhutan Police, won The Jaipur Cup for PT for Lady officers.

Mr. Akash Patel, IPS (P) of 72RR borne on Uttar Pradesh cadre, won The S.R.B. Cup for Drill.

Mr. Sumeet Meharda, IPS (P) of 72RR borne on Rajasthan cadre, won The Tonk Cup for Equitation.

Ms. Shreya Gupta, IPS (P) of 72RR borne on Tamil Nadu cadre, won Shri BhubanandaMisra Memorial Trophy for the Second-Best all-round Probationer.

MsRanjeeta Sharma, won The Prime Minister’s Baton and Home Ministry’s Revolver for the Best all-round IPS Probationer.

MsRanjeeta Sharma won The IPS Association’s Sword of Honor, awarded to the best Outdoor Probationer and is the first lady officer trainee to receive this in the history of the Academy.

She also won the 1973 Batch IPS Officers Trophy for the Best All-round Lady IPS Probationer, 1958 Batch IPS Officers’ Trophy for the Best Lady Outdoor Probationer & The BSF Trophy for Proficiency in Outdoor Subjects.

After reviewing the parade, oath ceremony and distribution of awards, the minister Mr. Nityanand Rai addressed the officers and all the dignitaries present during the parade. In his speech, he paid homage to the police officers who laid down their lives during the pandemic. He also stressed upon the importance of working with transparency, integrity, humility, courage, commitment and teamwork.

Mr Rai said that whole of India relied on young officers like them to protect the country and its people from threats like terrorism, rebellion and traditional crimes. He also advised them to spend at least 100 hours every year to train the men and women under them on the latest techniques and technology.

“As long as you do not invest in improving the skills of your subordinates and team members, you won’t be able to achieve extraordinary results,” he said.

Concluding the ceremony, 178 officer trainees of 72 RR passed out from the portals of the Academy and took their first step in the service of the nation.
