Sangeeta Gupta, a former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, is a multifaceted personality who has made remarkable contributions to the fields of taxation, art, and literature. She holds the unique distinction of being the first woman from her district in Uttar Pradesh, India, to qualify for the Civil Services, marking the beginning of her illustrious career in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) as part of the 1984 batch.

Beyond her professional achievements in the IRS, where she served with distinction, Sangeeta Gupta has carved a niche for herself as a prominent abstract artist, poet, and filmmaker. Her artistic journey is as impressive as it is diverse, with the publication of 25 books, including fourteen anthologies of poems in Hindi and six in English. Her literary work has transcended linguistic boundaries, with 11 of her books being translated into various languages, including German, Greek, Mandarin, Bangla, Dogri, Tamil, and Urdu. Notably, she has also translated a book of poems by Hungarian poet Istvan Turzi into Hindi, further demonstrating her dedication to cultural exchange.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to literature, Sangeeta Gupta was awarded a Doctor of Literature degree by the 42nd World Congress of Poets, solidifying her place as a respected figure in the literary world. Her journey from a pioneering civil servant to an influential artist and poet exemplifies her extraordinary talent and relentless pursuit of excellence.
