In a significant move, the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held on December 17, 2024, under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and 1988 batch IAS officer Manoj Kumar Singh recommended promotions and selection grade for 150 IAS officers out of the total 154 discussed. The decision, which will be effective from January 1, 2025, is set to impact various officers across different batches.

The DPC cleared the promotion and selection grade for 150 officers, including those who have completed long tenures in service. However, the names of four officers were not included in the promotion list. One officer was excluded from the promotion process due to an ongoing departmental inquiry against them. Additionally, a total of eight IAS officers from the 2000 batch were considered for promotion, with seven of them set to be appointed as Principal Secretaries. This batch includes Saurabh Babu, Deepak Agarwal, Amit Gupta, Manish Chauhan, Dhanalakshmi K, Ranjan Kumar, Anurag Yadav, and Ranveer Prasad.

A discussion was also held on the proposal to promote 40 officers from the 2009 batch from Special Secretary to Secretary. Among them are Subhra Saxena, Suryapal Gangwar, Aditi Singh, Dr. Rupesh Kumar, Anuj Kumar Jha, and Mala Srivastava etc.

The meeting also granted significant promotions to officers from various batches. 51 officers from the 2012 batch were awarded the selection grade for completing 13 years of continuous service. Similarly, 38 officers from the 2016 batch were given the Junior Administrative Pay Scale, recognizing their nine years of continuous service. Furthermore, 17 officers from the 2021 batch, with four years of service, will be receiving a 6600 grade pay.

This move is seen as an effort to recognize and reward the hard work and dedication of officers who have served the state for extended periods, while also providing incentives for their continued contribution to governance.

The promotion and selection grade decisions reflect the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to improving administrative efficiency and motivating civil servants to strive for excellence in their roles. The effective date of these promotions, January 1, 2025, will mark a new chapter for these officers in their professional journeys.
