Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has implemented a significant reshuffle in the police department, assigning new roles and additional responsibilities to several senior officers. The changes, announced through an official order by the J&K Home Department, take place with immediate effect.
In a key move, 2002 batch IPS officer of AGMUT cadre, Mr Uttam Chand, currently serving as IG (POS) HQ, has been given additional charges. He will now also hold the portfolios of IGP (Headquarters) PHQ, IG (Technical), and IG (Telecom).
Mr Chand takes over these responsibilities from M. Suleman Choudhary, an IPS officer of 2007 batch, who has been relieved of the additional roles.
Among other major changes:
- 2011 batch IPS officer Vinod Kumar, IPS, DIG Armed Jammu, has been given additional charge of DIG IR Jammu.
- Mr Mohd. Arshad, JKPS, Director Home-guards, Jammu, will now also serve as DIG HG/CD & SDRF, Jammu.
Several officers awaiting adjustment have now been assigned field postings:
- 2020 batch IPS officer Hariprasad K.K., IPS, is posted as Additional SP Baramulla.
- 2021 batch IPS officer Kartik Shrotriya, IPS, is posted as Additional SP Anantnag, replacing Sajad Ahmad Sheikh.
Further, structural changes in the ranks include:
- 2021 batch IPS officer Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, is appointed as SP Operations (Border & Kandi), Kathua.
- A JKPS officer Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, who previously served as Additional SP Anantnag, has been transferred as SP CTC Lethpora (Vice Principal).
- Mr. Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Additional SP Anantnag (Overall Reserve Post), has been posted as Dy. CO IR-23, replacing Mr. Rameez Raja.
These administrative changes are seen as part of routine operational restructuring to strengthen the policing framework and improve coordination across key regions in Jammu and Kashmir.
