Mr. Gurjinder Pal Singh (1994-batch Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer) is set to be promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP) following the retirement of Mr. Ashok Juneja (1989-batch IPS officer).
A Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting was held on Tuesday to fill the vacant DGP post, where it was recommended to elevate Mr. Singh to the DG rank.

Chhattisgarh’s DG Posts:
The state has two cadre and two ex-cadre DG positions, previously held by:
- Mr. Ashok Juneja (1989-batch IPS officer)
- Mr. Pawan Dev (1992-batch IPS officer)
- Mr. Arun Dev Gautam (1992-batch IPS officer)
- Mr. Himanshu Gupta (1994-batch IPS officer)
Following the Supreme Court’s reinstatement of GP Singh’s service—overturning his previous dismissal by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)—his promotion remained uncertain due to discussions about extending Ashok Juneja’s tenure. With the DPC’s approval, his elevation to DGP now seems imminent.
