Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has carried out a minor administrative reshuffle in the Indian Police Service (IPS), transferring six officers with immediate effect. The transfers, ordered on administrative grounds, primarily involve Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), who have been assigned new responsibilities as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) and Additional Superintendents of Police (Administration) across various districts.
The latest reshuffle is aimed at strengthening district-level policing and administrative coordination in key regions of the state.
Six IPS Officers Receive New Assignments
As per the government order, the following IPS officers have been transferred and posted to new assignments:
- Niyojyoti Mishra (IPS:2021:AP), who was serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chintapalli, has been transferred and posted as Officer on Special Duty (Administration), Markapur District.

Routine Administrative Exercise
Officials indicated that the transfers have been made as part of a routine administrative exercise to improve operational efficiency and ensure effective deployment of young IPS officers across the state. Most of the officers belong to the 2021, 2022 and 2023 batches and are currently in the early stages of their field careers.
The reshuffle focuses on strengthening administrative and law-and-order management in districts by assigning officers to strategic positions such as OSDs and Additional SPs.
Focus on District-Level Administration
The latest transfer order reflects the Andhra Pradesh government’s continued emphasis on optimising police administration through periodic cadre management. Such postings provide young IPS officers with wider exposure to district administration, law and order, and organisational management before they move on to larger leadership roles.
With these transfers taking effect immediately, the officers are expected to assume charge of their new assignments without delay.
