- Promoting market linkages
- Ensuring convergence of central and state government schemes
- Monitoring district-level development outcomes
Under the scheme, Central Nodal Officers play a critical role in ensuring effective implementation and coordination among various stakeholders.
Role of Central Nodal Officers
Central Nodal Officers serve as the Centre’s designated representatives for specific districts and are entrusted with:
Reviewing Scheme Progress
They regularly assess the implementation status of various interventions and development projects being undertaken under PMDDKY.
Facilitating Coordination
CNOs act as a bridge between district administrations, state governments and central ministries to resolve bottlenecks and improve execution.
Monitoring Outcomes
They ensure that targeted agricultural and developmental objectives are being achieved within prescribed timelines.
Reporting and Feedback
The officers provide periodic feedback to the Government of India regarding ground-level challenges, policy requirements and implementation progress.
Agriculture Ministry to Coordinate Implementation
The latest Office Memorandum states that for operational coordination and clarifications related to PMDDKY, officers may contact Mr Chinmay P. Gotmare, Joint Secretary (Marketing & PMDDKY), Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The Ministry has been designated as the nodal department for overseeing implementation and monitoring of the programme nationwide.
Part of Wider Administrative Review
The latest order updates a series of notifications and amendments issued between October 2025 and June 2026concerning the appointment and replacement of Central Nodal Officers across aspirational agricultural districts.
Officials indicated that periodic changes in nodal assignments help ensure more effective oversight and bring fresh administrative perspectives to districts identified for focused agricultural transformation.
