Ravi Kota has directed all government departments in Assam to conduct detailed assessments of existing and upcoming vacancies as the state government moves to fulfil its promise to provide two lakh government jobs over the next five years.

Chief Secretary Reviews Recruitment Roadmap
Chief Secretary Ravi Kota on Thursday chaired a detailed review meeting on operationalising the task force, which has been formed in line with the BJP manifesto and the cabinet’s employment commitment.
According to officials, the task force, headed by the Chief Secretary, will submit a report within three months outlining the modalities for generating and filling two lakh government jobs in the state.
The meeting focused on identifying existing and anticipated vacancies across government departments, field offices, autonomous bodies, colleges, and universities.
Focus on Transparent and Timely Recruitment
Discussions also covered year-wise retirement projections, grade-wise vacancies in field offices, and identification of posts that can be filled through direct recruitment.
Officials further deliberated on streamlining recruitment processes to ensure transparency and timely appointments. Measures to improve manpower availability in remote and difficult regions through policy interventions and incentives were also discussed during the meeting.
The Chief Secretary said the roadmap would include annual employment targets, department-wise projections, and strong monitoring mechanisms to ensure a structured and future-oriented approach towards public employment generation in Assam.
Over 1.64 Lakh Recruitments Already Completed
The Assam government stated that more than 1.64 lakh recruitments were completed during its previous tenure between 2021 and 2026 through the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination and departmental recruitment processes.
