Patna: The Bihar government has approved a series of major development decisions aimed at accelerating growth across infrastructure, industry, transport, education, health and digital governance. In a high-level cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, around 20 key proposals were cleared to strengthen the state’s overall development roadmap.
Industrial Investment Policy Extended to Boost Growth
The cabinet approved an extension of the Industrial Investment Promotion Package till June 30, 2026. The move is aimed at attracting new investments and ensuring continuity in industrial development across Bihar.
Major Push to Public Transport with 400 Electric Buses
To improve urban mobility, the government has approved the operation of 400 electric AC buses across major cities.
- 150 buses for Patna
- 50 buses each for Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga and Purnia
The scheme will run for 12 years starting FY 2026–27.

₹15,967 Crore Approved for Road Maintenance with AI Monitoring
A massive ₹15,967.03 crore has been sanctioned for maintenance of 19,305 km of roads for seven years under the PWD.
The maintenance system will also use AI and machine learning-based monitoring tools to improve efficiency and transparency.
Bihar AI Mission Launched for Digital Transformation
The cabinet approved the formation of the Bihar AI Mission to promote artificial intelligence adoption in governance and skill development.

- Collaboration with IITs and C-DAC
- Focus on modern digital governance systems
World Bank Support of $500 Million for Urban Development
Bihar has received in-principle approval for a $500 million World Bank loan under the Urban Transformation Programme to improve infrastructure and urban services across cities.

- Land transfer to Airports Authority of India for airport expansion
- Extension of BIT Mesra Patna extension centre till 2030
- Land allocation for Kendriya Vidyalaya in Arwal and Shekhpura
New Identity for Medical College in Sitamarhi
The Sitamarhi Government Medical College and Hospital has been renamed as “Maa Sita Medical College and Hospital, Sitamarhi”, reflecting its cultural and religious significance.
₹150+ Crore Approved for River Erosion Protection
Three major anti-erosion projects have been approved to protect areas along the Ganga and its tributaries:
- ₹52.56 crore for Shahpur (Bhojpur)
- ₹57.55 crore for Sonpur (Saran)
- ₹64.12 crore for Vaishali district
E-Voting and Digital Governance Push
The cabinet approved the appointment of C-DAC Hyderabad for implementing e-voting systems in municipal elections, ensuring better accessibility for senior citizens and differently-abled voters.
Credit Facility for Government Employees and Pensioners
A new system has been approved to provide regulated loans through banks and financial institutions, helping government employees and pensioners avoid informal lending practices.
Strengthening Judiciary and Administrative System
New posts have been approved in Benipur court (Darbhanga) to speed up judicial processes, especially related to prohibition law cases.
