NBCC Lays Foundation Stone for ₹350 Crore New IIFT Campus in Delhi with Modern Sustainable Infrastructure 

New 7.55-Acre Sustainable Campus at Maidangarhi to Feature Modern Academic Facilities, 1000-Seater Auditorium and Green Infrastructure

New Delhi: NBCC (India) Limited has marked a new milestone by laying the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) at Maidangarhi, New Delhi. The project, with a sanctioned cost of nearly ₹350 crore, will be developed on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis.

Foundation Stone Ceremony Held in New Delhi

The foundation stone was laid on May 5, 2026, in the presence of NBCC Chairman and Managing Director Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy, who attended as the Chief Guest. Senior officials including Dr. Suman Kumar, Director (Commercial), along with other dignitaries and stakeholders, were also present at the event.

Modern Campus Spread Over 7.55 Acres

The new IIFT campus is being developed on a 7.55-acre site in South Delhi near Chhatarpur. The location offers strong connectivity to metro stations, major roads, and Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The project will have a total built-up area of nearly 54,000 sq. m. and is designed to create a modern academic environment focused on innovation, research, and global learning.

World-Class Academic and Residential Facilities

The campus will include advanced infrastructure such as:

  • Smart classrooms and lecture halls
  • Faculty offices and conference rooms
  • Modern library and learning spaces
  • 1000-seater international auditorium
  • Hostel for over 600 students
  • Residential units for faculty members

These facilities aim to support a fully integrated academic ecosystem.

Green and Sustainable Campus Design

The project has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. Key features include:

  • LED lighting and solar energy systems
  • Advanced HVAC systems
  • Rainwater harvesting and water recycling
  • Eco-friendly construction materials
  • Waste management systems
  • Over 80% natural daylight utilization
  • Landscaped courtyards and open green spaces

The campus is targeted to achieve a minimum 3-star GRIHA rating, ensuring environmentally responsible construction.

Boost to Academic Excellence and Global Engagement

Speaking at the ceremony, CMD Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy highlighted that the project is not just an infrastructure expansion but a long-term investment in strengthening IIFT’s global academic presence.

The new campus is expected to enhance research capabilities, international collaboration, and student learning outcomes.
