Patna: Bihar will organise a fire safety painting competition in all government schools on September 5, Teachers’ Day, to raise awareness among students about fire prevention and emergency safety.
The Bihar Education Project Director has directed all District Education Officers to ensure that schools conduct the competition and encourage students to create paintings on ways to prevent fires and stay safe during emergencies.
Students to Highlight Fire Safety Through Art
The competition will focus on practical fire safety awareness. Students will be encouraged to use paintings to show measures that can help prevent fires and actions people should take if a fire breaks out.
The initiative aims to make children more aware of fire-related risks through a creative and engaging activity. By introducing safety messages through school-level activities, authorities hope students will better understand basic precautions and emergency responses.

Top Three Students to Receive Awards
Schools have also been asked to recognise the best entries. Students securing the first, second and third positions at the school level will be awarded.
The Education Department has further directed schools to submit information after the competition, including details of how many schools conducted the activity.
Disaster Management Department Proposed Initiative
The painting competition follows a request from the Disaster Management Department, which approached the Education Department to conduct an awareness activity for schoolchildren on fire prevention and safety.
The collaboration between the two departments places students at the centre of the awareness campaign. Schools will provide a platform for children to learn about fire risks while communicating safety messages through their artwork.
Building Safety Awareness Among Children
Fire incidents can create serious risks in homes, schools and public places. Early awareness can help children understand what precautions to take and how to respond during an emergency.
The September 5 competition will therefore combine education with creativity, allowing students to communicate fire safety messages while also developing awareness of disaster preparedness.
