Patna: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has approved 13 major proposals covering road connectivity, irrigation, artificial intelligence, fisheries, employment, warehousing, sugar industries and animal husbandry. The biggest decision is the approval for a 336-km six-lane greenfield road connecting Buxar with Bhagalpur.
336-km Road to Improve Connectivity
The proposed six-lane corridor will start from Buxar and pass through Bhojpur, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Munger, Sheikhpura, Banka, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui and Lakhisarai before reaching Bhagalpur.
The project will be implemented through the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL). The Cabinet has also approved the appointment of consultants and a transaction adviser for preparing the Detailed Project Report. The government plans to develop economic activities around large land parcels along the corridor.
The new road is expected to improve connectivity and support agriculture, trade and other economic activities across the districts along its route.

Bihar to Use AI for Infrastructure Planning
The Cabinet also approved steps towards developing an artificial intelligence-based infrastructure platform. Bihar’s Information Technology Department has signed an MoU with Japanese company Tayo for the initiative.
The platform is expected to help the government identify and prioritise infrastructure projects, monitor their progress and support implementation across different sectors.
Fisheries Cooperatives to Be Created Statewide
A new fisheries cooperative structure will be created from the district to the state level. It will include district-level committees, district-group cooperatives, divisional fisheries cooperative unions and a state-level federation.
The initiative aims to organise fish farmers and people from disadvantaged communities involved in fisheries and provide them with a stronger institutional support system.
More Funds for Irrigation and Warehousing
Under the Har Khet Tak Sinchai Ka Pani programme, the Cabinet approved ₹266 crore for 35,000 already sanctioned private tubewells. Another ₹83.60 crore has been approved for 11,000 additional tubewells during 2026-27.
The government has also approved ₹34.95 crore to create 48,200 metric tonnes of warehouse capacity. Cooperatives will receive 50% assistance, while the remaining amount will be provided as working capital.
Sugar Mills and Dairy Sector Get Push
New cooperative sugar mills are planned on the land of closed mills at Sakri in Madhubani and Raiyam in Darbhanga. Primary sugar mill cooperative societies will be formed with local sugarcane growers.
The Cabinet also approved ₹39.26 crore for reconstruction and restoration of canal systems in the state. In addition, ₹63.92 crore has been sanctioned under the National Gokul Mission for cattle breed improvement.
The Cabinet decisions collectively aim to strengthen Bihar’s infrastructure and rural economy while expanding irrigation, agricultural storage, employment opportunities, industrial activity and livestock productivity.
