Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development works worth more than ₹135 crore in Birgaon Municipal Corporation in Raipur district, while announcing additional projects worth around ₹110 crore for the urban area.
The projects cover works related to roads, drinking water, sanitation, sewerage, sports facilities and other civic infrastructure, according to details shared during the programme.
Of the works inaugurated and taken up for foundation laying, projects worth more than ₹94 crore are linked to the Birgaon Municipal Corporation, while Public Works Department projects account for over ₹38 crore. Another set of works worth around ₹16 crore was taken up under the Nagarotthan Yojana.
Additional ₹110 Crore Works Announced
The Chief Minister also announced around ₹110 crore in new development works for Birgaon, taking into account the requirements of the growing urban area.

Sai said Birgaon is developing as an urban and industrial area and highlighted the need to strengthen roads, drinking water, sanitation, sewerage, sports facilities and other civic infrastructure in line with population growth and industrial activity.
According to the state government, Birgaon Municipal Corporation has received development works worth more than ₹160 crore over the past two-and-a-half years.
Birgaon Included in Proposed State Capital Region
Sai also said Birgaon will be part of the proposed State Capital Region, which is being developed around Raipur, Durg-Bhilai and adjoining areas.
According to the Chief Minister, the proposed region is intended to have a coordinated and long-term development roadmap covering the participating urban areas. He said Birgaon would also be covered under this planning exercise.
