BPCL and IIT Madras Launch YANTRAS Centre for Robotic-Assisted Surgery Innovation at IITM

New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to establish the YANTRAS Centre for Next-Gen Technologies for Robotic-Assisted Surgeries, marking a major step toward advancing India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem.

The initiative was officially launched during the IIT Madras Technology Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam under the theme “From IITM. For Bharat. Building Together.”

Focus on Indigenous Medical Technology Development

The YANTRAS Centre aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in robotic-assisted surgical technologies through:

  • Advanced medical research
  • Training programs for healthcare professionals
  • Startup incubation support
  • Global collaboration in medical innovation

The goal is to reduce dependence on imported medical technologies and promote indigenous innovation in the healthcare sector.
