BPCL Kochi Refinery Wins IMC RBNQA 2026 for Excellence in Safety, Innovation and Sustainable Operations

Kochi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Kochi Refinery has been awarded the prestigious IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award (IMC RBNQA) 2026 in the Performance Excellence Category, recognizing its strong focus on operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and safety.

The award ceremony was held in Mumbai, where senior representatives of Kochi Refinery received the honour.

Award Presented at Mumbai Ceremony

The award was presented in the presence of industry dignitaries, including former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, along with Ms. Sunitha A. Ramnathkar, President of IMC, and Niraj Bajaj, Chairman of the IMC RBNQA Trust.

Representing Kochi Refinery, senior officials including Vishwas Khobragade, Avinash Sankpal, and Neelabh Upadhyay accepted the award on behalf of the refinery team.

Recognition for Operational Excellence and Safety

The award highlights Kochi Refinery’s strong systems-driven operations and its leadership in cleaner fuel initiatives and digital transformation.

A key achievement noted was the refinery’s exceptional safety record of over 92 million accident-free man-hours, reflecting its strong safety culture and operational discipline.

Focus on Sustainability and Net Zero Goals

The refinery was also recognised for its contributions toward energy conservation and Net Zero initiatives. Its efforts to reduce environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency were a major factor in the award evaluation.

Innovation in Petrochemicals and Digital Transformation

Kochi Refinery’s development of innovative petrochemical products as import substitutes was also acknowledged.

The refinery has been actively adopting digital technologies across operations, improving efficiency, reliability, and overall performance standards.
