New Delhi: BSE Ltd and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) have announced a strategic partnership to promote equity financing and expand capital-market access for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India.

The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at increasing awareness among MSMEs about equity financing, particularly through the BSE SME platform, while helping eligible businesses understand and navigate the listing process.

BSE to Provide Experts and Training Support

As part of the partnership, BSE will provide subject-matter experts and trainers for a range of awareness and knowledge-building programmes.

These programmes will include:

  • Seminars
  • Workshops
  • Roadshows
  • Awareness programmes
  • Knowledge sessions
  • Capacity-building initiatives

The objective is to help MSMEs understand how capital markets work and what businesses need to do to explore equity financing and potential listing opportunities.

BSE SME Platform to Help MSMEs Access Growth Capital

BSE Managing Director and CEO Sundararaman Ramamurthy said the partnership will help take awareness about SME listing closer to businesses across the country.

He highlighted the BSE SME Platform as an avenue through which eligible businesses can access growth capital while also improving their visibility and corporate credibility.

The collaboration combines BSE’s capital-market expertise with PHDCCI’s extensive MSME outreach network to help enterprises better understand and leverage capital markets for expansion.

PHDCCI to Drive MSME Outreach Across India

PHDCCI will use its network of member associations, industry bodies and regional chambers to reach MSMEs and undertake awareness and capacity-building activities.

The chamber will facilitate outreach to interested enterprises and support initiatives designed to improve their understanding of capital-market opportunities.

PHDCCI will also contribute through:

  • Policy advocacy
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Knowledge initiatives
  • MSME awareness programmes
  • Capacity-building activities
  • Outreach through regional chambers and industry associations

Partnership Focuses on Equity Financing for MSMEs

Access to timely and appropriate capital remains an important requirement for MSMEs seeking to scale operations, innovate and compete in an evolving business environment.

The BSE-PHDCCI partnership seeks to encourage eligible businesses to consider equity financing as an alternative source of growth capital.

The initiative is expected to connect MSMEs with relevant knowledge, professional expertise and institutional support, enabling them to explore the SME listing route where appropriate.

MSMEs to Get Mentorship and Expert Guidance

The partnership will provide MSMEs with access to mentorship, expert guidance and capacity-building initiatives.

A nodal-point mechanism will also be established to assist businesses in identifying and exploring suitable capital-market opportunities.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the broader MSME ecosystem by helping enterprises understand both the requirements and potential benefits of accessing India’s capital markets.

Focus on Building a Stronger MSME Capital-Market Ecosystem

The collaboration between BSE and PHDCCI is designed to bridge the information and awareness gap that can prevent MSMEs from exploring capital-market financing.

By combining BSE’s expertise in capital markets with PHDCCI’s nationwide industry network, the partnership seeks to make information about equity financing and SME listing more accessible to businesses.

The initiative could help eligible MSMEs explore new avenues for growth capital, business expansion and long-term development.
