Diamond Harbor: Amid the ongoing turmoil in neighboring Bangladesh, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General and 1990 batch IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary, is scheduled to visit Bengal on Tuesday. During his visit, Chaudhary will attend the closing ceremony of the all-women Ganga river rafting team in Diamond Harbor. The team, comprising 20 courageous BSF women personnel, will complete their extraordinary journey, having covered a distance of 2,550 km over the span of 53 days.
The journey, which began on November 2, started from Gangotri and will culminate at Gangasagar. This event is a collaborative initiative between the BSF and the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), with the objective of raising awareness about the cleanliness of the Ganga river and promoting women’s empowerment.

A Journey of Awareness and Empowerment
Throughout their expedition, the team stopped at various locations, engaging in cultural and awareness programs to spread the message of environmental protection and women’s empowerment. One such program was organized at Tagore Vila Mandir Ghat in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, where local dignitaries, school students, NCC cadets, and Bharat Scouts and Guides gathered to support the cause.
IPS Maninder P.S. Pawar, IG BSF South Bengal Frontier, attended the program as the chief guest, underscoring the significance of the initiative.

Rigorous Training for the Courageous Team
The 20-member team, which includes two officers and support staff, underwent 42 days of rigorous training at the BSF Institute of Adventure and Advanced Training in Dehradun before embarking on this challenging journey. BSF Sub-Inspector Priya Meena, the leader of the team, spearheaded the mission, which has become an inspiration for women across the country, demonstrating their strength and resilience.
This mission, initiated in 2024, not only aims to promote environmental conservation but also highlights the empowerment of women in traditionally male-dominated fields.
A Strong Message for Clean Ganga Mission
The closing ceremony in Diamond Harbor will be a moment of celebration for the team, marking the successful completion of their journey. The campaign continues to inspire both women and men to contribute toward the mission of cleaning the Ganga and ensuring its preservation for future generations.
