New Delhi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a series of new digital initiatives and customer offers on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day.
The announcements include a major 4G network expansion, affordable mobile and broadband plans, a revamped Selfcare app, free entertainment services and satellite phone connectivity.
BSNL Orders 26,300 More 4G Sites
BSNL has ordered more than 26,300 additional 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites for deployment across the country.
The expansion is expected to extend BSNL’s 4G footprint to more towns, villages and remote areas.
The company has also optimised its existing 4G network to improve coverage, data speeds, call performance and overall network quality.
BSNL said the network operates on an indigenous technology stack that can be upgraded to 5G.

₹1 Freedom 2.0 Offer for New Customers
As part of its Independence Day offers, BSNL has introduced the Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 offer for new customers.
The offer provides:
- 1 GB data per day
- 100 SMS per day
- Unlimited voice calls
- 24 days of validity
The offer aims to allow new users to experience BSNL’s mobile services at a very low entry cost.
₹1,111 Fibre Plan Offers 200 Mbps Speed
BSNL has also launched its Fibre Freedom Plan at a special introductory price of ₹1,111 per month.
The plan includes internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps and 5,000 GB of monthly data.
Customers will also receive access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms, combining broadband and entertainment services through one connection.
New BSNL Selfcare App Brings Services Together
BSNL has revamped its BSNL Selfcare New mobile application for Android and iOS users.
The app brings several customer services under one platform, including prepaid recharge, bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management and payment history.
It also supports Fibre booking requests, AI chatbot assistance, voice search and multiple-account management.
Customers can additionally access BSNL Entertainment TV through the app.
Around 500 Live TV Channels for BSNL Users
BSNL mobile subscribers can access around 500 live TV channels through its free Entertainment TV service, powered by Tango TV.
The service is available through the new Selfcare app and provides live television and on-demand entertainment content on mobile devices.
Satellite Phone Service for Remote Areas
BSNL also highlighted its Global Satellite Phone Service (GSPS), which uses satellite connectivity for voice communication in locations where conventional mobile networks may not be available.
The service can support communication in remote and geographically challenging areas, strengthening connectivity beyond conventional terrestrial networks.
Extra 47 Days on ₹2,399 Annual Plan
BSNL has also added 47 extra days of validity to its ₹2,399 annual prepaid plan as a limited-period Independence Day offer.
This increases the total validity from 365 days to 412 days, while customers continue to receive the existing benefits of the annual plan.
BSNL-Polycab Partnership for Made-in-India Equipment
BSNL has partnered with Polycab to support domestic telecom manufacturing under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
The partnership will involve Polycab’s Electronic Manufacturing Services facility for telecom and networking equipment, including cameras, ONTs and routers.
The companies will use a Hardware-as-a-Service model, which is intended to support scalable telecom infrastructure while reducing the need for heavy upfront investment.
A Wider Push for Affordable Digital Connectivity
BSNL’s latest announcements combine network expansion with affordable plans and digital services.
With additional 4G sites, new broadband offerings, entertainment services and satellite connectivity, the telecom company is seeking to expand access to communication and digital services across different parts of the country.
The initiatives also place emphasis on indigenous technology and domestic telecom manufacturing as India continues to expand its digital infrastructure.
