Centre Promotes 3 DIGs as Joint Directors in CBI; Khare, Singhal, Priyadarshi Get Key Roles

New Delhi: In a key administrative move, the Centre has promoted and transferred three officers to the rank of Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), strengthening leadership across critical zones and divisions of the agency.

The appointments are part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and leadership within the country’s premier investigative body.

Key Appointments and New Assignments

Sudhanshu Kumar Khare Appointed Joint Director, Bhopal Zone

Mr Khare, who was serving as DIG/Head of Branch (HoB), CBI, SCB Kolkata, has been elevated and appointed as Joint Director, Head of Zone (HoZ), CBI Bhopal Zone, Bhopal.

His elevation places him in charge of a strategically important zone, where he will oversee investigations and administrative functions across multiple jurisdictions.

Madhu Kumar Singhal Elevated in I&R Division, New Delhi

Mr Singhal, previously serving as DIG, CBI, Information & Research (I&R), New Delhi, has been promoted as Joint Director in the same division.

His continued role in the I&R wing reflects the importance of intelligence gathering, research, and data-driven support in modern investigative processes.

Vivek Priyadarshi to Head Hyderabad Zone

1998 batch officer Vivek Priyadarshi, who held the post of DIG/HoB, CBI, BSFB, New Delhi, has been appointed as Joint Director and Head of Zone (HoZ), CBI Hyderabad Zone, Hyderabad.

In his new role, he will lead operations in one of the key southern zones, focusing on high-profile investigations and coordination across states.

Strengthening CBI Leadership

These promotions and transfers come at a time when the CBI is increasingly handling complex, multi-state investigations requiring experienced leadership and coordinated strategy.

By elevating senior officers to Joint Director rank and assigning them zonal and functional responsibilities, the Centre aims to:

  • Strengthen investigative capabilities
  • Improve coordination across zones
  • Enhance efficiency in handling sensitive cases
