Relief Also Covers Pending Water Charges
The Housing Board has extended similar relief to beneficiaries with outstanding water supply charges.
A 50% waiver will be available on the surcharge imposed on pending water charges. Beneficiaries can claim the concession by making a one-time payment of their outstanding water charges.
This measure could help beneficiaries who have accumulated additional liabilities because of delays in clearing their water-related dues.
Earlier Scheme Prompted Fresh Relief
According to Chairman Anurag Singh Deo, the Housing Board had previously introduced a 50% waiver on penal interest for beneficiaries who cleared their outstanding dues in a single payment by March 31, 2026.
The earlier initiative provided relief to beneficiaries and encouraged them to settle their pending payments.
Based on the response to that scheme, the Board has decided to offer the concession again. The latest decision provides another opportunity for eligible beneficiaries to close their old dues while reducing the additional financial burden created by penal interest and water-charge surcharges.
Housing Board Seeks Faster Recovery of Dues
The concession also has a financial objective for the Housing Board. By encouraging beneficiaries to clear their outstanding amounts in one payment, the Board expects to improve recovery and maintain liquidity in its funds.
For beneficiaries, the immediate advantage is the reduction in additional charges. Instead of paying the full accumulated penal interest or water-charge surcharge, eligible beneficiaries can reduce these liabilities by half when they settle their dues under the scheme.
The Board is now issuing necessary instructions to its concerned units for implementation of the decision.
Beneficiaries Urged to Avail the Concession
The Housing Board has appealed to eligible beneficiaries to make use of the special relief and clear their outstanding amounts at the earliest.
The initiative provides a financial incentive for beneficiaries to resolve long-pending housing and water-related dues. At the same time, improved recovery can strengthen the Housing Board’s ability to manage its finances and continue implementing housing-related projects.
The 50% waiver therefore serves a dual purpose: providing relief to beneficiaries facing accumulated charges and improving the recovery of outstanding dues for the Chhattisgarh Housing Board.
