Raipur: A joint team of the Revenue Department, Food and Drug Administration and Police Department conducted a late-night raid at Vaidya Food on Bhalesar Road in Mahasamund following suspicions of illicit analogue paneer manufacturing and sale.
The inspection was carried out late Sunday night and continued for nearly three hours. Officials reached the facility around midnight and found paneer being processed at the premises.
Around 200 Kg of Paneer Seized During Raid
During the inspection, officials raised concerns over the quality of the paneer and the ingredients being used in its manufacturing.
The team seized approximately 200 kg of paneer from the facility and collected information about the raw materials and the manufacturing process being followed at the unit.
The seizure was made as part of the administration’s efforts to determine whether the product complied with prescribed food safety and quality standards.

Cold Storage Facility Inspected on Monday
On Monday morning, officials unsealed the cold storage facility associated with the premises to examine the products stored there.
The inspection was carried out to assess the nature and quality of the stored food items and to gather further evidence related to the suspected manufacturing activity.
Officials also collected samples of the paneer for detailed laboratory examination.
Paneer Samples Sent to Raipur Laboratory
The collected samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Raipur for quality testing.
The laboratory analysis will determine whether the paneer meets the required food safety standards and whether the concerns raised during the inspection are substantiated.
Officials are awaiting the test results before proceeding with further action.
Legal Action to Follow Under Food Safety Law
Designated Officer Umesh Kumar said that further legal action would be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act after the laboratory test results are received.
The findings of the laboratory examination will play a key role in determining the next course of action against the concerned facility.
Administration Steps Up Checks on Food Quality
The administration said the inspection is part of efforts to ensure food quality and curb the sale of banned or adulterated food products across the state.
Food and Drug Administration officials also confirmed that inspections will continue at food establishments to monitor compliance with food safety regulations and protect consumer health.
The Mahasamund raid highlights the administration’s ongoing focus on checking suspected food adulteration and ensuring that food products available to consumers meet prescribed safety standards.
