Chhattisgarh Rolls Out Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana with 125 Days of Employment and Major Development Push

 CM Vishnu Deo Sai says the scheme will strengthen livelihoods, water conservation, rural infrastructure and sanitation, backed by ₹551 crore allocated by the Centre for FY 2026-27.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday highlighted the significance of the Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana, describing it as a major step towards achieving the vision of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat) by improving rural livelihoods, strengthening infrastructure and expanding employment opportunities.

The scheme, launched on July 1, focuses on comprehensive rural development through a wide range of community and infrastructure projects across the state.

Centre Allocates ₹551 Crore for FY27

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Central Government has allocated ₹551 crore for the implementation of the Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana during the 2026-27 financial year. He added that Chhattisgarh has received ₹1,593 crore under the programme so far.

According to the Chief Minister, the scheme is expected to significantly improve rural infrastructure, employment generation and sustainable development across the state.

Scheme Covers 318 Types of Rural Development Works

The Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana includes 318 categories of development works, covering multiple sectors aimed at strengthening rural communities.

The projects include:

  • Water conservation.
  • Rural infrastructure development.
  • Livelihood promotion.
  • Climate change mitigation.
  • Animal husbandry.
  • Drainage development.
  • Forest fire prevention.
  • Natural resource management.

The government said the diverse range of works will contribute to sustainable and inclusive rural development.

Registered Workers to Get 125 Days of Employment

Chief Minister Sai said every registered worker under the scheme will be entitled to 125 days of guaranteed employment every year.

The initiative is designed to strengthen rural livelihoods while creating durable community assets across villages.

He also assured that workers would receive their wages on time.

According to the Chief Minister:

  • ₹450 crore has been released under MGNREGA.
  • ₹395 crore has already been disbursed to workers.

Three Statewide Campaigns to Run from August 15 to January 26

The Chief Minister announced three special campaigns that will be implemented between August 15, 2026, and January 26, 2027 under the Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana.

These campaigns aim to improve sanitation, community infrastructure and water conservation across Chhattisgarh.

‘Meri Beti Mera Abhiman’ Campaign to Build School Toilets

Under the “Meri Beti Mera Abhiman” campaign:

  • Toilets will be constructed in 6,671 government schools.
  • Each toilet project has an estimated cost of ₹4.30 lakh.

The initiative aims to improve sanitation facilities for girl students and promote a better learning environment in government schools.

549 Muktidhams and Waiting Sheds to Be Constructed

As part of the second campaign, the government will build:

  • 549 Muktidhams (cremation grounds).
  • Waiting sheds across the state.

Project highlights:

  • Estimated cost: ₹391.44 crore.
  • Target completion date: January 26, 2027.

The projects are intended to strengthen essential community infrastructure in rural areas.

‘Mor Gaon Mor Pani’ Campaign Focuses on Water Conservation

The “Mor Gaon Mor Pani” campaign will further strengthen water conservation efforts across Chhattisgarh.

According to the Chief Minister:

  • More than 50,000 water conservation projects are already underway.
  • 10,027 recharge wells will be constructed.

The recharge wells are expected to:

  • Revive dried-up hand pumps.
  • Improve groundwater recharge.
  • Strengthen long-term water security in rural areas.

Government Focuses on Rural Development and Sustainable Growth

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Viksit Bharat GRAM Ji Yojana is designed to improve rural infrastructure, generate employment and promote sustainable development across Chhattisgarh. He said the programme combines livelihood generation, environmental conservation, sanitation and community infrastructure to improve the quality of life in villages while contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.
