New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has launched several new initiatives under the Saksham Yojana to modernise government schools and improve education, technology access, and student welfare in the national capital.
The initiatives focus on integrating advanced technology into government schools, improving learning facilities, and ensuring the overall development of students.
As part of the programme, the country’s first AI-Integrated Smart School Toilets were inaugurated at a government school in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.
Delhi Government Schools to Get Smart Classrooms and Innovation Labs
Under the new education-focused initiatives, Delhi government schools will be equipped with:
- STEM Innovation Labs
- Modern computer laboratories
- Smart digital classrooms
- Technology-based learning facilities
CM Rekha Gupta said the objective is to connect students of government schools with world-class education and modern technology.
She highlighted that these initiatives will provide students with better opportunities to develop skills in science, innovation, and emerging technologies.
Focus on Student Health and Overall Development
Along with educational reforms, the Delhi government has also introduced student health and welfare programmes.
In collaboration with the Ladli Foundation, health-related initiatives have been started for around 3,000 girl students, including:
- Medical health check-ups
- Eye screening
- Distribution of spectacles to needy students
- Deworming programmes
- Menstrual hygiene awareness and training
CM Rekha Gupta said education should go beyond academics and include the health, confidence, and overall development of students.
Students to Get Global Exposure Through Space Science Programme
During the event, the Chief Minister awarded fully sponsored air tickets to the top five students who performed exceptionally well in STEM Innovation Labs.
These students will participate in the prestigious Space Science Programme at the United States Space & Rocket Center.
CM Rekha Gupta said the initiative will provide students with international exposure and encourage them to explore opportunities in science, technology, and innovation.
She added that the vision is to help young talent overcome resource limitations and access global learning opportunities.
AI-Based Smart School Toilets Introduced for Better Facilities
The launch of AI-Integrated Smart School Toilets marks a technology-driven improvement in school infrastructure.
The initiative aims to provide students with cleaner, safer, and more advanced sanitation facilities by using modern technology solutions.
The move is part of the government’s broader plan to improve basic amenities in schools along with digital education infrastructure.
137 Electric Waste Collection Vehicles Launched in Shalimar Bagh
Apart from education initiatives, CM Rekha Gupta also launched steps to improve cleanliness and waste management in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.
She flagged off 137 electric primary waste collection vehicles to strengthen door-to-door garbage collection.
The vehicles will operate across four zones, helping improve waste management systems and promoting cleaner neighbourhoods.
Steps to Modernise Urban Infrastructure
The Delhi government is also working on improving electricity infrastructure and safety systems to provide better urban services to citizens.
CM Rekha Gupta said modern education, clean surroundings, and reliable civic facilities are important components of building a developed Delhi.
