Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated and reviewed a series of key development projects across Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura, focusing on strengthening civic infrastructure, drainage systems, health services, and public amenities in the capital.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to ensuring balanced development across all assembly constituencies, emphasizing that a “developed Delhi” can be achieved only through continuous and equitable infrastructure growth.
Major Drainage and Sewerage Projects Inaugurated in Shalimar Bagh
In Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, several infrastructure projects were inaugurated to improve stormwater drainage and sewerage systems. These projects were developed by the Public Works Department and Delhi Jal Board.
Key works inaugurated include:
- Precast drainage system from DT Mall to CA Block on both sides
- Drainage construction from CA Block to Shalimar Village Chowk underpass
- Improved system from RUB to GT Karnal Road (Azadpur Mandi Gate)
- Drainage development from Shalimar Chowk to DA Block
Additionally, a new sewage pumping station and delivery line were inaugurated to permanently resolve long-standing sewerage issues in Shalimar Village, Sahipur Village, and nearby areas.

Modernization of Parks and Urban Lighting in Pitampura
The Chief Minister also inaugurated beautification and development works at BD-FD Park in Pitampura. The upgraded park now features enhanced landscaping and modern infrastructure.
As part of the development initiative:
- 93 new electric poles were installed
- Modern lighting systems were introduced to improve safety and aesthetics
Officials said these upgrades aim to improve recreational spaces and enhance the quality of urban life in the area.
Focus on Monsoon Preparedness and Infrastructure Monitoring
During her visit, CM Rekha Gupta directed officials to ensure that all infrastructure systems remain fully functional during the monsoon season. She emphasized strict monitoring to prevent waterlogging and civic disruptions.
She also reviewed ongoing projects related to:
- Park beautification
- Drainage and sewerage management
- Healthcare services
- Irrigation infrastructure
- Technical education institutions
The Chief Minister instructed departments to complete all projects within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high construction quality.
Inspection of Healthcare Facilities in Pitampura
The Chief Minister inspected the NP Block Dispensary in Pitampura, reviewing medical services, availability of medicines, equipment, and patient facilities.
She directed health officials to ensure timely and quality healthcare delivery to all citizens, stating that accessible healthcare remains a top priority for the government.
Review of Munak Canal and Water Management Systems
CM Rekha Gupta also visited the Munak Canal at Singhalpur, where she assessed water flow management, maintenance systems, and cleanliness operations.
She instructed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to ensure regular cleaning, proper upkeep, and long-term conservation of water resources to maintain efficiency in water distribution systems.
Focus on Skill Development and Technical Education
The Chief Minister also visited the DSEU Kasturba Pitampura campus, where she reviewed academic infrastructure, training facilities, and skill development programs offered to students.
She emphasized the importance of strengthening technical education and vocational training to improve employment opportunities for youth in Delhi.
