New Delhi: India’s growing defence manufacturing ecosystem received another boost as Adani Defence & Aerospace highlighted its partnership with DRDO in developing indigenous missile and precision-strike systems under India’s PPP-led defence model.

Adani Defence DRDO partnership, has gained attention after the company showcased major breakthroughs in anti-ship missiles, glide weapon kits, and anti-drone warfare systems.

The developments support the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and strengthen India’s sovereign defence capabilities.

Details of Adani Defence DRDO Partnership

In a recent social media post, Adani Defence & Aerospace said its collaboration with DRDO has contributed to several next-generation defence technologies.

The company showcased:

  • NASM-SR anti-ship missile
  • Indigenous glide weapon kit
  • Anti-tank and anti-drone warfare systems

The projects are being developed under India’s public-private partnership (PPP) defence manufacturing model. The aim is to reduce dependence on foreign military imports and strengthen domestic production capabilities.

NASM-SR Missile Marks Major Breakthrough

One of the key systems highlighted was the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR).

According to official DRDO and PIB information:

  • NASM-SR is India’s first indigenous air-launched anti-ship missile
  • It is designed for the Indian Navy
  • The missile supports:
    • Fire-and-forget capability
    • Sea-skimming attacks
    • Day and night operations
    • Two-way data link retargeting
  • The missile can be launched from naval helicopters

In April 2026, DRDO and the Indian Navy successfully conducted the maiden salvo launch of NASM-SR from a naval helicopter platform over the Bay of Bengal.

Officials confirmed that the missile successfully demonstrated:

  • Waterline hit capability
  • Indigenous navigation systems
  • Advanced avionics
  • Long-burn sustainer propulsion

The successful trial is considered a major step for India’s maritime strike capability.

Indigenous Glide Weapon Kit Expands Precision Strike Ability

Adani Defence also showcased India’s indigenous glide weapon kit known as TARA (Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation).

The system is designed to convert conventional bombs into precision-guided weapons.

Key features include:

  • Long-range precision strike capability
  • Lower operational cost
  • Improved targeting accuracy
  • Extended stand-off attack range

Reports suggest the system can help fighter aircraft strike targets from safer distances while reducing risk to pilots and aircraft.

The glide weapon initiative is part of India’s broader push toward smart munition systems.

Anti-Drone and Precision Warfare Systems Gain Importance

The company also highlighted anti-drone and anti-tank warfare systems.

This comes at a time when drone warfare is becoming increasingly important in modern combat.

Recently, the Indian Army received:

  • UAV-Launched Precision Guided Munition (ULPGM)
  • AGNIKAA VTOL-1 Kamikaze Drone

These systems were developed with DRDO support and delivered by Adani Defence under emergency procurement programs.

The systems are expected to improve:

  • Battlefield surveillance
  • Precision strikes
  • Counter-drone capability
  • Tactical battlefield response

Adani Defence DRDO Partnership: India’s Defence Manufacturing Push Accelerates

India has been aggressively promoting indigenous defence production under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The government is focusing on:

  • Domestic weapon manufacturing
  • Reduced foreign dependency
  • Public-private defence collaboration
  • Export-oriented defence production

The DRDO-private sector partnership model is becoming central to India’s defence modernization strategy.

Adani Defence is among several private players working with DRDO laboratories on advanced military systems.

Strategic Importance of Adani Defence DRDO Partnership

Experts believe indigenous defence programs provide several strategic advantages:

  • Faster supply chain access
  • Reduced import costs
  • Better technology control
  • Improved national security
  • Export opportunities for Indian-made weapons

The successful testing of advanced missile systems also signals India’s growing capability in precision-guided warfare technology.
