Why BrahMos Missile Is Considered Deadly
The BrahMos Missile is widely known for combining high speed with precision attack capability.
What are the Features of BrahMos Missile
- Travels at nearly Mach 3 speed.
- Can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms.
- Uses terrain-hugging flight paths to avoid radar detection.
- Capable of long-range precision strikes.
The missile is currently used by:
- Indian Army
- Indian Navy
- Indian Air Force
Reports also noted that the air-launched BrahMos variant has been integrated with the Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet fleet for long-range strike missions.
BrahMos Range Increased After MTCR Entry
According to reports, India expanded the operational range of BrahMos after joining the Missile Technology Control Regime.
Earlier versions had a range of around 290 km, but newer versions can reportedly strike targets between 450 km and 500 km away.
Some reports also suggested that future variants could target ranges up to 800 km by 2028.
BrahMos-NG Development Under Progress
India is also developing the next-generation version called BrahMos-NG.
Expected improvements include:
- Smaller and lighter design
- Better compatibility with fighter aircraft
- Faster deployment capability
- Enhanced precision strike systems
Growing International Interest in BrahMos after Operation Sindoor
The successful performance of BrahMos during Operation Sindoor may further strengthen India’s missile export ambitions.
The Philippines became the first foreign buyer of the missile system, while countries like Vietnam and Indonesia have also shown interest in the platform.
