New Delhi/Jakarta: India Indonesia BrahMos missile pact has become one of the biggest defence developments of 2026. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indonesia, both countries signed important defence agreements that include the supply of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles. The agreements also expand cooperation in maritime security, critical minerals, healthcare, election technology, and strategic industries.

Details of India-Indonesia BrahMos Missile Deal

India and Indonesia signed a defence agreement under which India will supply BrahMos missile systems to Indonesia. The Southeast Asian nation will also import India’s Astra air-to-air missile, which was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

What Is the Astra Missile

The Astra missile is India’s first indigenous beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missile. Developed by DRDO, the missile has become an important part of the Indian Air Force’s modern weapon system.

Apart from defence, India and Indonesia agreed on a new framework for maritime safety and security cooperation. The agreement is expected to improve coordination between the two countries in protecting important sea routes and increasing regional stability.
