According to an official Ministry of Defence release the rescue operations have been underway since midnight on July 22. Coast Guard teams worked closely with the local civil administration despite difficult weather and dangerous conditions.

One of the biggest operations took place at the flood-hit Welspun Industrial Area. According to the Ministry of Defence, road connectivity to the area had been completely cut off because of flooding. This left dozens of people stranded.

During the night of July 23-24, Coast Guard teams successfully evacuated 60 people from the affected area and moved them to safety.

The rescue operation also expanded to Navsari district in Gujarat. On July 24, two Indian Coast Guard helicopters airlifted 33 stranded people from Mendar Village. One of the rescued people was suffering from severe chest pain and was given urgent medical assistance.
