New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and Shell India Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen support for DPIIT-recognised startups.
The partnerships will provide startups with access to technology, mentorship, industry networks, market linkages and other growth opportunities. While the PhonePe partnership will focus on digital payments, technology and business scaling, the Shell India collaboration will specifically support startups in the energy and climate-tech sectors.
DPIIT-PhonePe Partnership to Boost Startup Growth
Under the MoU with PhonePe, DPIIT-recognised startups will receive access to a range of digital and business support services aimed at helping them expand their operations and reach new markets.
Key benefits for startups include:
- Transaction credits through PhonePe’s Payment Gateway
- Access to the Indus AppStore
- Dedicated onboarding and support services
- Opportunities for enhanced brand visibility
- Access to industry knowledge and business networks
PhonePe will also organise regular masterclasses and webinars for startups covering areas such as fintech, sales, go-to-market strategies and business scaling.

Shell India MoU Focuses on Energy and Climate-Tech Startups
The separate MoU between DPIIT and Shell India will focus on startups developing solutions in the energy and climate-tech ecosystem.
Through the partnership, Shell India will provide startups with mentorship and strategic guidance, along with opportunities to connect with investors and incubators.
The key areas of support include:
- Mentorship and strategic guidance
- Connections with investors and incubators
- Opportunities to participate in the Shell E4 Smart Energy Track
- Knowledge-sharing on energy and climate-tech innovations
