Shimla: A drone-based mail transmission service has been launched by the Department of Posts in Himachal Pradesh, marking a major step towards modernizing postal operations in remote and mountainous regions.

Announced by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the initiative aims to improve connectivity, speed up deliveries, and provide better access to postal services for people living in difficult terrains. 

The first operational route connects Mandi Head Post Office with Rehardhar Branch Post Office and demonstrates how drone technology can transform rural logistics in India.
