New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has received a nomination from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) for Rajeev Kumar, currently serving as Deputy Director General in the ministry, to join the company’s Board as a Government Nominee Director.
The nomination was communicated through a letter dated September 29, 2026, and GAIL disclosed the development to the stock exchanges on September 30, 2026.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has nominated Rajeev Kumar as Government Nominee Director on the Board of GAIL (India) Limited.

Tenure of Rajeev Kumar’s Appointment
According to GAIL’s disclosure, the nomination will be effective for three years, or on a co-terminus basis, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A co-terminus appointment means that the tenure may end along with the nominee’s existing government assignment. The Ministry may also issue further orders affecting the tenure before the three-year period is completed.
GAIL to Complete Formal Appointment Process
GAIL stated that it is currently taking the necessary steps to complete the formalities related to the appointment.
The company will submit detailed disclosures to the stock exchanges once the required appointment process is finalised.
The disclosure has been made in compliance with the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Government Nominee Role on GAIL Board
As a government-controlled public sector enterprise, GAIL’s Board includes government representation through nominee directors.
