New Delhi: Bharat Parv 2026, a national cultural and tourism festival, kicked off at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi, drawing widespread attention from citizens, artists, and cultural enthusiasts. 

Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the six-day celebration showcases the diverse cultural heritage of India through tableaux, performances, handicrafts, and culinary experiences — all under the theme of unity in diversity. 

The festival, inaugurated on 26 January 2026, not only celebrates India’s heritage but also highlights the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram in a vibrant blend of tradition and modernity. 

Bharat Parv 2026: Celebrating India’s “Multifaceted Soul”

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla formally inaugurated Bharat Parv 2026 at the Red Fort lawns on 26 January, in the presence of Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Tourism Secretary Shri Suman Billa.

In his address, Birla emphasised that the festival represents India’s multifaceted cultural soul, where art, tradition, innovation and national pride converge.

Birla highlighted that the festival has special significance this year due to the commemoration of 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram — a song deeply linked with India’s freedom movement and cultural identity. 

According to him, Bharat Parv reflects the nation’s historical journey through Republic Day tableaux, cultural performances, and exhibitions blending tradition with innovation.

Major Highlights of Bharat Parv 2026 

Organised annually as part of Republic Day celebrations, Bharat Parv has evolved into one of India’s most important cultural festivals. 

The event reflects the Ministry’s objectives of promoting domestic tourism, creating a platform for artists, artisans, States and Union Territories, and strengthening the spirit of national integration through cultural participation.

Key Highlights Include:

  • Display of 41 Republic Day Tableaux: Featuring themes from various States and Union Territories, emphasising India’s unity in diversity.
  • 48 Cultural Performances: Showcasing folk dances, music, and artistic traditions from all over India.
  • 22 Performances by Armed Forces and Paramilitary Bands: Adding patriotic fervour to celebratory evenings.
  • Grand Pan-India Food Court: With over 60 stalls offering regional cuisines and live cooking sessions.
  • Handicrafts & Handloom Bazaar: Featuring 102 stalls by States, Central ministries, TRIFED and more.
  • 34 State Tourism Pavilions + 24 Central Ministry Stalls: Showcasing local tourism offerings, innovations and cultural identities.
  • Interactive Activity Zones: Including nukkad nataks, quizzes, children’s activities and experiential spaces.

Entry for the public is free throughout the festival.

Bharat Parv 2026: An Inclusive Festival Open to All

The festival remains open from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on 26 January, and from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM between 27 and 31 January, inviting visitors of all ages — families, students, tourists and culture lovers — to explore India’s heritage up close.

Visitors can enjoy colourful tableaux that portray the ethos of regions like Chandigarh, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tripura, Uttarakhand and others. 

The festival also offers opportunities to experience local crafts, regional music and authentic cuisine that define India’s plural identity.

Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighted that Bharat Parv provides a grand platform to showcase India’s folk culture — underscoring the government’s commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage while forging links with contemporary aspirations. The festival underlines how tradition and progress coexist harmoniously in modern India.
